'Ukraine puts peace talks track on long-term hold': Russian fakes for August 14
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian fakes launched by Russian propagandists on August 14
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, on August 14, Russian propagandists launched fake news and disinformation.
Fake: Russian Telegram channel Lomovka wrote: “A large outbreak of an open form of tuberculosis has been detected in the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stationed in the Kherson region.”
Rebuttal: After failing with the fake about the outbreak of an unknown infection in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kherson region, the Russians are spreading a similar fake about the outbreak of tuberculosis. The sanitary and epidemiological situation in the Kherson region is stable and under control. No outbreaks of acute intestinal infections or food poisoning have been registered.
Disinformation: Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Miroshnik said: “Ukraine has put the peace talks track on a long-term pause.”
Rebuttal: Ukraine is trying to end the war on the terms of a just peace, not Putin's ultimatums. Russian propaganda's attempts to accuse Ukraine of not wanting to end the war look pathetic and absurd.
- On August 13, the Russian media promoted a fake alleging that the Ukrainian Armed Forces use ammunition with the same poisonous substances as the Third Reich in gas chambers.
