Russia deliberately blocks IAEA experts rotation at ZNPP
Russia deliberately blocks rotation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP
The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reports this.
The Russian occupying forces also continue to deploy military equipment and servicemen at the ZNPP and the surrounding area.
"The Russian Federation grossly violates the norms of international law, undermines the norms of nuclear and radiation safety, and also demonstrates complete disregard of the resolutions of the IAEA Board of Governors, which demand Russia to immediately withdraw its military equipment and personnel from the ZNPP," the message reads.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the rotation of IAEA experts should be immediately unblocked. It is also necessary to ensure safe movement of experts through the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to the ZNPP.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to immediately respond to the crimes committed by the Russian Federation against civilian nuclear facilities, obstruction of the work of the Agency and threats to the lives of international experts. They also called to take immediate steps to expand sanctions against the Russian state corporation Rosatom, its affiliated companies and institutions, as well as other key players in Russia's nuclear energy sector. They also emphasized the urgent need to stop cooperation with the Russian Federation in the field of nuclear technologies and limit Russia's rights and privileges in the IAEA.
"If not stopped, Russia’s criminal actions at the Ukrainian nuclear facility could lead to a catastrophe, the scale of which was never known to Europe," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
