State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Poland Pawel Zalewski is convinced that Russian leader Putin will not dare to attack NATO countries

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV

"Putin is a rational politician in his own way, he makes mistakes. The attack on Ukraine was such a mistake, this mistake became possible because of the false data he received. Unfortunately, it happens that dictators, and Putin is one, receive false information from their people and have no way of checking this information because they have created such a system. But he is not a madman and would not risk attacking NATO territory, the territory of the Baltic states, especially given that NATO's military presence on the eastern flank is growing and will continue to grow. It is not being strengthened in such a provocative way, it is not about Putin or any of his courtiers having arguments for the thesis that NATO wants to attack," Zalewski explained.

According to Zalewski, Western countries should do everything possible to prevent Putin from winning

"NATO shows that it will defend every piece of land of a NATO member state, and there is no doubt about it, no one can have any doubts. This is the whole logic of this alliance and its commitments. Therefore, a Russian attack on NATO countries is impossible. Instead, we must do everything we can to ensure that Russia does not win the war against Ukraine, and that Ukraine defends itself and can be part of the West, because that is what Ukrainians want and that is part of Ukrainian identity. This cannot be won and Putin will not win it," he added.

  • On December 29, during Russia's massive aerial attack on Ukraine, a Russian missile entered Polish airspace and then went into Ukraine. President Andrzej Duda convened an emergency security meeting. While NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance “remains vigilant”.
