Poland’s foreign minister urges to supply Ukraine with Leopard tanks
Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau emphasizes that the price of hesitation in providing tanks to Ukraine is the blood that Ukrainians shed on the battlefield
Zbigniew Rau made the statement on Twitter.
“Arming Ukraine in order to repel the Russian aggression is not some kind of decision-making exercise. Ukrainian blood is shed for real. This is the price of hesitation over Leopard deliveries. We need action, now,” he tweeted.
At a meeting in the Ramstein format of the contact group on Ukraine's defense on Friday, January 20, the supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv was not agreed upon. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that there is currently no "unified approach" to this issue.
At the same time, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin noted at the meeting that the US is determined to set an example in how to provide assistance to Ukraine.
Commenting on the Ramstein meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that "Yes, we will still have to fight for the supply of modern tanks, but every day we make it more obvious there is no alternative to making the decision on tanks."
