At the meeting in Ramstein, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that there is currently no "single approach to the issue of providing Leopard tanks"

German Minister of Defense stated this during the eighth meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in Ramstein.

"Impression that there is a coalition where only Germany stands in the way is misleading," he emphasized.

Boris Pistorius noted: earlier he ordered to inspect of the condition of the Leopard tanks in Germany and it is "wrong" to say that Germany is blocking the supply of this equipment to Ukraine: there are good reasons "for" and "against" put forward by different countries.

  • Poland intends to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, regardless of what Berlin's decision will be as a country producing this equipment. Subsequently, it became known that the German government does not object to Warsaw sending Leopard to Ukraine.

  • Pentagon head Lloyd Austin and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius held talks on the transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukraine on the eve of the Ramstein meeting.

  • According to FAZ, the Czech Republic and Slovakia were supposed to receive Leopard 2 tanks from Germany, but at the meeting in Ramstein, they could offer to deliver equipment to Ukraine.

  • On January 20, the eighth meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine began in Germany, at American Ramstein Air Base. Head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that "this is a decisive moment for Ukraine and the whole world."
