Pentagon head opens Ramstein meeting: “This is a decisive moment for Ukraine and the whole world”
The 8th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group has begun at the American Ramstein air base in Germany. The Pentagon head, Lloyd Austin, says “this is a decisive moment for Ukraine and the whole world”
BBC reports that on January 20, 8th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group began in the German city of Ramstein.
US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin opened the meeting. He promised Ukraine support as long as it is needed:
We are meeting at a turbulent time, but you can see the resolve and unity of this contact group…When Putin launched his reckless invasion a few months ago he thought the world would look away. He didn't count on the courage of the Ukrainian people. Russian forces have increased their horrific attacks killing many innocent Ukrainians,” he said.
The head of the Pentagon added that “this is a decisive moment for Ukraine and the whole world”, confirming that various countries of the European Union continue to help arm Ukraine. He noted that Germany would provide the Patriot air defense system, and added that other countries, including France, Canada and Poland, were also helping.
