Pentagon releases Ukraine assistance list: HIMARS, boats, ammunition, machine guns
The United States will provide Ukraine with a new USD 450 million military aid package. It includes 4 highly mobile artillery missile systems (HIMARS), 18 coastal boats and large volumes of ammunition.
CNBC shared the list.
According to the Pentagon, the aid package includes the following:
-
4 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS
-
36,000 rounds of 105 mm ammunition
-
18 tactical vehicles to tow 155 mm artillery
-
1,200 grenade launchers
-
2,000 machine guns
-
18 coastal and riverine patrol boats
-
Spare parts and other equipment
The publication reports that after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, President Joe Biden's administration provided USD 6.1 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.
John Kirby, National Security Council's Strategic Communications Coordinator, said Washington is working closely with Kyiv to determine which types of weapons best meet their needs in each package.
"The reason we're doing this is to be able to keep what's going on on the battlefield," Kirby told reporters at a White House briefing.
