"The enemy has nothing to react with": military expert predicts how Ukrainian forces will advance in Kursk region
Viktor Kevliuk, military expert of the Center for Defense Strategies, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has told about the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kursk region and mobilization challenges for Russia
He was interviewed by Espreso TV channel.
"Now we are seeing that the military of the spring 2024 draft are being redeployed to the combat zone in order to somehow build up the grouping. The enemy has no choice but to react to this situation. As for the mobilized, they do not sign any contracts, the state forcibly takes them out of civilian life, puts them in military uniforms, gives them weapons and sends them to the front. If the enemy wants to achieve the goal of a military operation, then without mobilization they will not be able to build up their forces, form strategic reserves and achieve a fundamental change in the war, at least to reach positions where they will strategically dominate, including on the field of negotiations on the end of hostilities. As for contract soldiers, today's recruitment systems supply them in such volumes that allow compensating for losses at the front, but the enemy has no opportunity to increase their numbers in this way," he noted.
The offensive in the Kursk region is gradually developing mainly in the northern and eastern directions, Kevliuk said.
"The Ukrainian defense forces have taken control of the territory with a total area of over one thousand square kilometers. They have reached certain frontiers. A barrier will be set up from the western direction in case the enemy decides to counterattack from that side. We will advance to the rear and flank of the enemy group that is fighting in the Kharkiv region," he added.
Ukraine has established a military commandant's office in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, headed by Major General Eduard Moskaliov. According to the military expert, this proves that we are a civilized country that is responsible for its international obligations.
"This is definitely one of the points of the operation of deploying a network of commandant's offices. After all, someone will have to maintain order in these territories and implement anti-terrorist and anti-sabotage measures. But they will also have to deal with very simple issues, such as stocking pharmacies with medicines and stores with bread and other essentials. The command of the Armed Forces and the military and political leadership of Ukraine are taking the right steps," said Kevliuk.
