New Yorkers mark Ukraine's Independence Day with charity run in traditional embroidered shirts
A charity run marking Ukraine's Independence Day has been held in New York: participants wore traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirts. Similar events took place simultaneously in different cities of the world.

As stated in the message, a race in embroidered dresses dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine took place in New York's Central Park.
"More than a hundred participants of the action ran 2.5 miles (about 4 km), starting near the Ukrainian Institute of America. After the "adult" race, the children started, who had to overcome the 100-meter distance," the message says.
According to the founder of the Ukrainian Running Club of New York, Anna Shpuk, this is already the sixth race in embroidered shoes.
"The club has been operating since 2007, and this run in embroidered dresses was already the sixth. To participate in it, all those willing made charitable contributions. The funds will go to humanitarian purposes in Ukraine," Shpuk said.
The organizer of the event also noted that the main goal of the race is to draw attention to Ukraine.
"In addition, our goal is to once again draw the public's attention to Ukraine in connection with our national holiday, as well as the half-year anniversary of the full-scale Russian war against Ukraine," she explained.
The event initiated in Ukraine took place simultaneously in different cities of the world.
