Why it is important for Ukraine to hold Krynky bridgehead: Southern Defense Forces tell
Dmytro Pletenchuk, head of the Southern Defense Forces' Center for Strategic Communications, highlights Krynky's tactical importance, which expands the possibilities for Ukrainian military operations
He said this on Espreso TV.
Answering a question about the importance of holding the bridgehead in Krynky, Pletenchuk said: “Tactical and strategic elements are important. Firstly, it makes it impossible for our enemy to carry out some of their plans, and secondly, it expands the possibility of our further actions.”
He emphasized that thanks to the holding of Krynky, Ukrainian troops have the initiative in this area.
“If, for example, the Russian occupiers had full control over the left bank, the situation on the right bank would be even more complicated than it is now, and as you know, it is quite complicated now because they are constantly shelling villages along the right bank, Kherson - it is not always just air strikes, it is quite a lot of shelling with cannon artillery, tanks, mortars,” the military explained.
The head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces recalled Russia's reaction to Russian forces' retreat from Nestryha Island.
“They desperately tried to return to it, lined the coast with the corpses of their soldiers and for some reason really wanted to gain a foothold on the right bank. Because the island of Nestryha belongs to the right bank, and after it the mouth of the Dnipro River and the left bank begin directly. Therefore, they understand the importance of getting a foothold somewhere closer to the position, and this gives them some operational advantages in the operational area. So, of course, it makes sense,” Pletenchuk summarized.
- Earlier, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army South, Serhiy Bratchuk, noted that Ukrainian marines are bravely holding the bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
