Ukrainian drones attack Russian targets in Crimea, Novorossiysk, Krasnodar region
On the night of May 16-17, the DIU and SBU drones attacked a number of important Russian targets in the temporarily occupied Crimea, Novorossiysk, and Tuapse
This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda, RBC-Ukraine, and hromadske, citing their own sources.
"Ships and other watercraft of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in their places of basing, in particular in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk, were targeted by a complex operation using surface and air drones," the statement said.
Other targets were also hit as a result of Russian air defense and electronic warfare.
The explosions in Crimea were reported by the local pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel Crimean Wind.
The explosions and alleged air defense operation were heard in Sevastopol, Balaklava and the surrounding area. Gauleiter Mikhail Razvozhayev claimed to have repelled an attack by dozens of drones. Five unmanned boats were allegedly destroyed.
According to him, "there is no damage to civilian infrastructure". However, later there were reports problems with electricity in Balaklava, as well as in different parts of Sevastopol.
Agents from the Atesh resistance movement reported successful hits in Crimea. The guerrillas wrote about the military targets they hit and promised to share the details.
Razvozhayev did admit that the wreckage of a UAV fell on a substation in Sevastopol.
He later said that it would take about a day to restore the Sevastopol substations. As a result, there may be power outages in the city.
"In connection with the current situation, it was decided to cancel classes in all schools, institutions of secondary vocational education and kindergartens," he added.
In the morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of 51 drones over Crimea.
