Kherson city council member slams fortifications in Kherson region
Oksana Pohomii, a member of the Kherson City Council, said that she was comforted by the presence of a natural fortification - the Dnipro River
She spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"Our people from the left bank of the Kherson region say that the enemy is preparing, placing everything close to the roads in all villages and towns, bringing reinforced boats. Our fortifications are, let's say, so-so. What we see, although we are not experts, are just dug trenches that are not reinforced, some have a floor in the form of wooden pallets. Some are covered with nets, some are not. There are no structures with two or three slopes to hide from shelling. It looks good, of course, especially the anti-tank "hedgehogs" close to the Dnipro river bank," said the Kherson City Council member.
According to her, there is no concrete at all. All that is concrete is stretchable concrete slabs that were somewhere around the city. Before the full-scale invasion, there was one road that was once built of concrete slabs, and those slabs were dismantled.
"As for the 'dragon's teeth' anti-tank structures, they are placed right next to the trenches, but the trench is not an anti-tank, it's a human trench. And experts on fortifications personally told me that this is wrong, because people in the trench cannot let a tank get so close, so these "dragon's teeth" should be 600-800 metres away from the trench. I think it's a simulation of intense activity, just like in Kharkiv region. The only comfort is that we have a natural fortification — the Dnipro River. But then there are the Dnipro floodplains, where there are many islands, and everything will depend on how well our military will hold them, because we would not want to be hit by mortars again," summed up Oksana Pohomiy.
