NATO weapons have precision aim to destroy targets, not to subject the enemy to massive bombardment - Colonel Kostenko
Roman Kostenko, lawmaker and Security Service colonel, has said that Russia's strategy is to blast everything with massive assaults and fire, while NATO weapons use more accurate missiles, which have stronger tactical and technical capabilities, and hone in on the target.
He shared the details with Espreso.
"They have enough equipment, even when the barrels are out of order, their task is not to shoot accurately, but to cover the ground with artillery shells in the squares, this is a Soviet tactic. Create a mass of batteries and divisions and simply pour them towards the enemy. That is why we do not. We have to hope that they will run out of shells, they have a lot of them. We need to respond precisely, with aim, understanding that in war economy is also very important. And fire as HIMARS, M777, howitzers 109, French CAESARs fire when the second, the third projectile hit the target," Kostenko noted.
He noted, talking about NATO standards and the transition to the 155th caliber instead of the 152nd, that before the difference was perceived in millimeters of 155 and 152 calibers, until he was convinced that it was not only the name 152 and 155, but in general a different concept and a different approach to weapons.
"Russians talked about Soviet weapons as superweapons, their concept was to cover everything with mass and fire because they could not make accurate weapons. NATO weapons are aimed at the fact that you take accurate projectiles, which are stronger in terms of their tactical and technical characteristics, and put them on the target. So, not just to cover everything, but, for example, to destroy the control post or ammunition warehouses, and after the enemy is bled, then advance," explained the colonel.
Kostenko added that it will be difficult for the enemy to move forward without mobilization, given their plans for the south. Most likely, they will do mass or covert mobilization, but our advantage is that we have already mobilized and we already have 700,000 mobilized people who are undergoing training and gaining combat experience.
"If the enemy mobilizes, he will have to throw unprepared people into the furnace. I believe that time is on our side. Even the statements of the Russians, about a respite in the Slovyansk and Kramatorsk directions, confirm that they suffered significant losses and did not regret anything, because they created a five-fold advantage and advanced, where ours simply destroyed them. But with the help of massiveness, they passed. Therefore, the fact that they stopped redeploying, we will use it, which will also play in our favor," concluded Roman Kostenko.
