Russia intensifies offensives in Zaporizhzhia region - Ukrainian military spokesman
Kostiantyn Denysov, spokesman for Ukraine’s Legion of Freedom, has discussed the situation in the Zaporizhzhia region, noting that Russian forces have intensified their offensive
He shared this update on Espreso TV.
“After a period of relative calm, the Russian army intensified its offensives in the Zaporizhzhia region. They’ve brought in reserves and recovered from recent setbacks. Their artillery and aircraft are constantly active, bombing the front lines and targeting nearby communities. Their strategy seems to be to push the 'gray zone' further into Ukrainian territory, gaining fire control over more areas. They continue to shell these areas with artillery while advancing their infantry,” he said.
According to Denysov, Russian forces remain focused on advancing to the administrative borders of the Zaporizhzhia region.
“Zaporizhzhia is increasingly threatened by Russian aviation and their continuous influx of equipment, ammunition, and personnel. They are sending these resources through a land corridor from Crimea to Rostov. There is also a notable increase in infantry attacks, militarization of society, and recruitment into their quasi-military groups. We know that once people are recruited and armed, they will likely attack eventually.
While some parts of the frontline are relatively calm and may not be covered by the media, the buildup of Russian forces in these areas suggests that an offensive could start at any time. The Russians are focused on regaining control of settlements they have lost and are determined to advance to the administrative borders of the Zaporizhzhia region. This is a significant threat we are witnessing firsthand in Zaporizhzhia,” Denysov added.
