National Guard member reveals his secret to deploying drones against Russian forces
Yevhen Miklushka, a UAV pilot of the National Guard of Ukraine, says that creating homemade drones is not easy. He also shared insights into UAV operations
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
Yevhen Miklushka believes that civilian involvement in combating the Russian forces is crucial but emphasizes that simply watching a YouTube video is insufficient for effective drone construction.
"I have dealt with 'kitchen-assembled drones' multiple times. It's concerning when people lack the necessary knowledge. It's not enough to watch a few YouTube videos, order parts from AliExpress, assemble them, and expect the drone to fly," Miklushka said. "Frankly, when we receive such drones, extensive upgrades are often necessary. That's why we want civilians to make these drones in cooperation with the military who will use them."
He says it is much easier for the military to work if the drones arrive in batches and are all the same. Soldiers only reconfigure them for themselves. Working with drones of the same type also simplifies operations.
"Homemade drones can perform exceptionally well at times," Miklushka noted. "However, centralized production makes coordination much easier."
Miklushka shared his "secret of success" when putting "birds" to work. He says that he always kisses them before flying for reconnaissance.
"Then it seems that they fly longer and can even live for several days. But I wouldn't presume to guess the average lifespan of one drone because it can live for 3 minutes but perform a unique job," he emphasized.
