Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles unmanned aerial systems battalion of the 92nd Ivan Sirko Separate Assault Brigade, said that heavy and difficult fighting continues in the Vovchansk sector, Russia is trying hard to hold its positions

He told this on Espreso TV channel.

"Information is now being spread that the occupiers are allegedly retreating from Vovchansk and Hlyboke. I want to emphasize that over the past year, I do not remember a period when the enemy would have retreated. Heavy and difficult battles continued on all the territories we managed to regain and de-occupy. We have counterattacks on every section of the frontline. After recapturing a position, the enemy always counterattacks to regain the lost ground. The enemy has more forces and means. So when you hear that the situation is stabilized or the Defense Forces have the tactical initiative, you should understand that very difficult battles are still going on," explained Fedorenko.

According to the serviceman, the Ukrainian Defense Forces need destruction means, including UAVs, every day to deter the Russian enemy.

"When we are in active defense, it is one kind of expenditure in terms of means, and when we are counterattacking, it is quite different. Of course, in both cases, these are significant resources. In particular, these are UAVs. First, you need to break down the enemy's positions, then destroy the reserves that the enemy is trying to use for a counterattack, and finally, you need to do everything possible to prevent the occupiers from reaching a particular position. That is why the Defense Forces must have a lot of munitions every day," he added.

  • On June 27, The New York Times reported that in May, the Russian army's losses in the war in Ukraine increased as it advanced in the north of Kharkiv region - it lost more than 1,000 killed and wounded daily.
  • On June 28, Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Voloshyn, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational and strategic grouping of troops, said that the Russian soldiers refused to perform combat missions in the Kharkiv region due to significant losses.
