NORAD reported the information.
Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not violate the sovereign airspace of the U.S. or Canada.
Additionally, NORAD stated that Russian activity in Alaska's air defense zone occurs "regularly and is not seen as a threat."
“An ADIZ begins where sovereign airspace ends and is a defined stretch of international airspace that requires the ready identification of all aircraft in the interest of national security,” the statement reads.
- Over the past week, NATO aircraft conducted seven sorties to detect and escort Russian aircraft violating flight rules.
