Macron claims Russia needs security guarantees
French President Emmanuel Macron believes that Europe's security plans should include guarantees for Russia, particularly a ruling out of NATO expansion
He said this on the air of the TF1 television channel.
According to him, one of the topics of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia will be NATO's, particularly, the impossibility of expanding the Alliance. Macron believes that the future security architecture of Europe should also include guarantees for Russia.
At the same time, in his opinion, Ukraine itself should decide when to start negotiations with Russia and under what conditions.
"Do you think that when we had to go through the capture of Alsace and Lorraine, we would like the world leader to tell us to do this or that? The Ukrainian people should decide for themselves and under what conditions, how and when but not us," the politician stressed.
At the same time, he added that Europe is not involved in the war and does not accept it, but the future security of the EU depends on it.
