Lukashenko's statements on ceasefire are aimed at disrupting Ukraine's counteroffensive – military expert Musienko
Oleksandr Musienko, head of the Center for Military Legal Studies, believes that Moscow will take any action to disrupt the Ukrainian army's counteroffensive
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
“I think that the purpose of Lukashenko's announcement of a truce is to disrupt the Ukrainian Armed Forces' counteroffensive. This is obvious. Now the nature of the war is such that, on the one hand, the Russian army is on the offensive, and on the other hand, they are preparing for defense. Everything the Russians have left, they are redeploying to the occupied territories of Ukraine,” Musienko explained.
The expert emphasized that the Kremlin is trying to disrupt the Ukrainian counteroffensive by all means.
“The fact that the Russian army is preparing for defense and strengthening its defensive lines indicates that the Ukrainian Armed Forces may soon seize the initiative in the fighting. Therefore, in anticipation of a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian army, Russia is trying to take any action to prevent the Ukrainian army from advancing. That's all. I think that's how we should perceive the ceasefire statements,” he added.
