Life will return together with Ukraine's Armed Forces: Zelenskyy in Izyum says that Russian-occupied Crimea will be Ukrainian again
On September 14, during a visit to deoccupied Izyum, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the Ukrainian military will liberate Crimea from the invading Russian forces
This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
According to the report, during a working trip to the Kharkiv region, in deoccupied Izyum, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that residents of all temporarily Russia-occupied territories of Ukraine, including Crimea, should know that Ukraine will definitely return there, and a full-fledged life will return with it.
"We have to send signals to our people who, unfortunately, are still under occupation. And my signal to the people in Crimea: we know that these are our people, and it is a terrible tragedy that they have been under occupation for more than eight years. We will return there. I don't know when exactly. But we have plans, and we will return there, because this is our land and our people," Zelenskyy said.
The president noted that the residents of the temporarily Russia-occupied Crimea have been under the pressure of Russian propaganda all these years, but when Ukraine returns to the peninsula, Crimeans will see the falsehood of Russian television and propaganda.
"Because we know that the truth is on our side," he emphasized.
Zelenskyy also noted that residents of the liberated territories warmly welcome the Ukrainian military.
"This is a very emotional moment. It means that together with Ukraine's Armed Forces of Ukraine, life is returning," the President of Ukraine said.
After seeing deoccupied Izyum, Volodymyr Zelenskyy remarked that he knew this region very well even before he became president, so what the Russian occupiers did to the city is shocking.
"What we see is shocking, although we have already seen this in Bucha, in the first deoccupied territories. Similarly, destroyed buildings, killed people... Unfortunately, this is part of our history today. And part of the modern Russian nation is that they did," the Head of State said.
Zelenskyy thanked international partners for sending investigators and prosecutors to Ukraine, who are helping to collect materials on Russian crimes in the deoccupied territories.
"We all understand that this process is not fast. Our Office of the Prosecutor General is working, performing important tasks. They allow both journalists and investigators to come to these places and to find important details... And then, I am sure, there will be verdicts for all of this, there will be a tribunal. I do not doubt it for a second," the President of Ukraine said.
