Leak of secret papers is Putin’s provocation to disrupt Western aid to Ukraine – Poroshenko
Petro Poroshenko said on MSNBC that the emergence of secret intelligence papers in the public space could be a hybrid Russian operation aimed at destroying the pro-Ukrainian Western coalition
"Russian aggression is not a crisis, it is not a conflict. It is a full-fledged war, including the hybrid mechanism of this war. I want to remind you that Putin is a KGB agent, and Russia is now a KGB state. And the only thing they can try to organise is provocation. Perhaps they are trying to divert attention from the supply of new weapons for the Ukrainian counteroffensive. Perhaps, they are trying to attack Ukraine's ability to launch a counteroffensive with information warfare," Poroshenko said.
The fifth president also noted that he visits the frontline almost every week and knows the real situation. "Every week we try to do our best to strengthen our forces. Every week we receive new weapons from the West. And this puts very high hopes on the Ukrainian counteroffensive. So I think that all this should not distract us and cannot distract us from military assistance," Poroshenko emphasised.
"We need ammunition, artillery ammunition for 155 calibre, we need a significant amount, because Russia now has three to four times more artillery than we do. We need long-range missiles. We need air defence because we need to stop Russian domination of Ukrainian airspace. We need drones because this is a new kind of war. It is not so much a war of infantry or even tanks, but a war of drones, artillery, electronic warfare systems," Petro Poroshenko said.
"And we need F16s – not to attack anyone, but to protect Ukrainian land from Russian bombers," Poroshenko emphasised.
"I am proud that we have created the Ukrainian Armed Forces together with our NATO partners. This is a battle between the Soviet-style Russian army, the second largest in the world, and a much smaller army that meets NATO standards. I am confident that in the end, professional Ukrainian pilots, who are now being trained in NATO countries, will use F16s against Russian soldiers this year," the fifth president said.
