It is necessary to create serious defense and stabilize situation in liberated Kherson region - Ukrainian Security Service colonel Kostenko

He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.

Roman Kostenko commented on the situation on the southern front and possible further actions of the Ukrainian forces.

"Now a defense line is being built along the Dnipro River, stabilization operations are being carried out in liberated settlements. The enemy has left many mines, which creates a big problem for both the local population and our troops. In front of my eyes, when I was approaching my native Charivne village of the Kherson region, three cars were blown up, there were dead and wounded, that is, the enemy competently mined the paths of their retreat in order to slow down the pace of our troops, but we still reached our lines in time", noted the Ukrainian Security Service colonel.

Kostenko explained that stabilization is currently underway, Ukrainian forces are on a defensive line along the Dnipro River, and are also observing how the enemy occupies its line in order to further inflict damage and reduce offensive potential, as well as to prevent the transfer of enemy reserves and the formation of ammunition depots.

"Our actions in the southern direction will consist of the defense of the liberated territories and exhausting the enemy in order to destroy its combat potential. Now in this direction, the main task is to build a serious defense, close the sky, clear the territories, take control of all populated areas and return law enforcement authorities, also to begin to solve the humanitarian crisis created by the enemy during the occupation," Roman Kostenko emphasized.
