Indonesia and African countries pay more for grain from Ukrainian ports due to Russian invasion - Ukrainian MP
Kira Rudyk, People's Deputy of Ukraine, noted that the unpredictability of Russia exposes ships sailing to Ukraine to great risks, therefore the price of grain increases due to the high cost of insurance companies' services
She told about it on Espreso TV.
A parliament member Kira Rudyk commented on the reasons for Russia's continuation of the "grain agreement".
"Russia has a desire to stay in the game, because if it leaves the "grain agreement", then absolutely no one from the G20 countries will shake its hand. Currently, the world is highly dependent on Ukrainian, as well as Russian grain and fertilizers. The main thing is that this supply will come at a price. Russia is now the main reason that grain coming out of Ukrainian ports is extremely expensive. This is because the companies that insure ships bound for Ukrainian ports add a huge price tag for the risks they face. That is, the residents of Indonesia and African countries are now paying a high price due to Russia's unpredictability," explained the People's Deputy of Ukraine.
Kira Rudyk noted that Russia cannot lose support among these countries, so it will remain in the agreement.
"After the recent events, the liberation of Kherson and the successes of the Ukrainian army at the front, the Russian Federation has fewer and fewer levers of pressure and options for receiving support. Everyone wants to be with the winners, and the winner is Ukraine. Therefore, if countries want to have grain not only now, but in the following years, these countries already need to negotiate with the winners of this war. Russia will lose and will have to negotiate with Ukraine, so it is necessary to choose the right side. Now we have a window of opportunity in which such a diplomatic approach should and will work," - concluded Rudyk.
