If Russia declares war, West must decide on further reaction – British Colonel Grant
In case Russia declares a serious war, the West will have to change its attitude to it
This was stated by British Colonel Glen Grant on Espreso.
"If it is a war, and that Russia does say that it's a war, then the West as well will have to make decisions about how they face this. Because at the moment most Western countries are still treating this as something that they can do as a side line not as the main effort for the country. And a serious war with Russia would mean people will have to look at this completely differently. I don't think Russia has got much potential for doing anything serious other than throwing more people at it at the moment because they don't have the capacity for much training. And they don't have the capacity for developing the human capital into high quality soldiers. So just more of the same that they've been doing. More Bakhmuts you could say, Maybe it's not one but five Bakhmuts at the same time," he noted.
According to the colonel, after the initial Russia’s large-scale attacks, Ukraine has been holding back the enemy everywhere and will continue to do so, but Ukrainian forces will lose many more people. That is why the Armed Forces must learn to fight differently.
"We can't keep fighting in Bakhmut format because such a format is too costly for the country. It may be good politically, but it's not good militarily for Ukraine because it destroys the best trained soldiers, and the country just can't afford to do that if this is going to be a long war," he emphasized.
