I think Ukraine needs several years to liberate all its territories - retired Colonel Collins
Liam Collins, the former Director of the Modern War Institute at West Point, told Espreso whether winter will be a turning point in the war and when Ukraine will liberate all its territories.
According to the former director of the Modern War Institute at West Point, Ukraine has already shown that it can win the war, and it is only a matter of time.
“Ukraine is demonstrating already that they can win this war. It's just a matter of time and part of it depends on continuing supply from the West, because they have a smaller military, and they have to replace their losses they trapped during the conflict. Ukraine has been demonstrating over the last 10 months, over the first defense of Kyiv they can win this, it's just a matter of time and commitment by Ukraine and by its supporters,” Liam Collins noted.
However, the retired colonel does not share Ben Hodges' opinion that Ukraine will liberate Crimea in the summer of 2023.
“I think it's going to take several years to liberate everything. I think the Crimea is going to be its own challenge. See how slow Ukraine has been able to make its bagging answers right down in Kherson and outside Kharkiv, but keep in mind that were Russian forces but not masked. As Russians get constructively to smaller space, even if they are less capable of fighting force, they are still capable of fighting, so that’s going to be the challenge,” Liam Collins concluded.
