I really hope that Putin and everyone responsible for bloody war of aggression will find their place in The Hague - MEP von Cramon
Member of the European Parliament Viola von Cramon told Espreso whether Putin will be brought to justice for crimes committed in Ukraine
The German politician believes that the work on bringing the perpetrators to justice for war crimes should begin now, because all the judicial structures need to be created and sufficient international support must be ensured.
“I think it's good to have a commitment, at least at the European level, that the majority of the states need to set up a special tribunal for war crimes as soon as possible. We need to make sure we have the judges and all the other investigators. We need to collect all the evidence and the war crime documentation, and so on. And I think this is the least we can do to bring justice to the people in Ukraine and all those who have been killed,” she said.
Viola von Cramon says that recognizing Putin as an international criminal will lead to the isolation of the aggressor state.
“If he was under international investigation, it would be extremely hard for Russia to have a ruler who is internationally wanted. We need to isolate Russia both politically and legally. I really hope that Putin and everyone responsible for this bloody war of aggression will find their place in The Hague,” the member of the European Parliament concluded.
