Germany faces massive threat from Russian hackers, says Interior Minister Faeser
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has warned of possible sabotage, disinformation and cyberattacks by Russian hackers
The Guardian reported the information.
Feser noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is investing huge resources in cyberattacks, which are a key part of the war he is waging. She also emphasized that attacks by pro-Russian hackers have become more frequent because of the war.
"The cybersecurity concerns have been exacerbated by the war. The attacks of pro-Russia hackers have increased," said Faeser.
The Interior Minister emphasized that the danger of Russian-sponsored espionage and sabotage activities also remains very high. In this regard, she called on federal and regional governments to cooperate in countering cyberattacks. According to her, this is necessary in order to "permanently continue to develop" their capabilities.
"We are confronting new ways of attacking and technologies," Faeser emphasized.
She added that the German government is currently expanding its security office in the field of information technology (BSI). This is how they create new tools that can be used to counter cyberattacks.
