German IRIS-T air defense system operates in southern Ukraine
The German-provided IRIS-T air defense system is already operating in the Southern direction
This was reported by the spokesman for Ukraine's Air Force, Yurii Ihnat, according to the Strategic Communications Center created under Ukraine's Ministry of Culture.
IRIS-T SLM missiles can hit a target at a distance of 12 km and at an altitude of up to 8 km, and their maximum speed is 3672 km/h. The installation is loaded with 8 IRIS-T SLM missiles, the radius of attack is 360 degrees, and radio command and infrared guidance allows the military to hit almost any target.
Yurii Ihnat noted that IRIS-T can work in a single information field with NASAMS or Patriot air defense systems.
"NASAMS is an already proven complex that has a good reputation in the world, and is in service with 12 countries of the world. With this complex, it may be easier in terms of supplies - it is available, and there are enough missiles for it," he added.
