Fierce fighting near Izyum. There is a humanitarian catastrophe in the city - deputy mayor
The invaders do not completely control the city, they bypassed it from the south. There are fierce battles going on
Deputy Mayor of Izyum Volodymyr Matsokin said this in a commentary to Radio Liberty.
Matsokin said that the aggressor's troops crossed the Siversky Donets, fighting is now going on in the area of the settlements of Kamyanka and Sukha Kamyanka.
"There are fierce battles going on. Mortars, artillery, planes, and helicopters have been brought in. It's hell, but the Ukrainian defense forces are effectively fighting back", Matsokin said.
According to the deputy mayor, the humanitarian situation in Izyum is critical.
"The whole world is talking about Mariupol. And this is understandable and correct. But our situation is no better. For three and a half weeks people have been left without electricity, water, gas, heating. No connection, no medication. There are no humanitarian corridors. The hospital is not working - people are dying because of the inability to help them. It's a terrible picture when they are buried in the park, at the entrances, in the gardens", said Volodymyr Matsokin.
