This is reported by El Mundo.

It is noted that the Security Service of the Air Base in Torrejon de Ardos discovered a suspicious envelope. X-ray analysis showed that it could contain a certain explosive mechanism inside. The Civil Guard and the National Police were notified about this.

Employees of both agencies moved to the base to guard the area. The Ministry of Defense has already confirmed the information about the explosives to the local newspaper, adding that no injuries or damages were recorded as a result of the incident.

It is known that the air base in Torrejon de Ardos shares intelligence with Ukraine. In February, the European Union announced that it would mobilize a satellite center in Torrejon de Ardos to provide intelligence to Ukraine as part of the EU's military assistance to Kyiv in the face of Russian aggression.

In addition, the publication reported that similar packages with explosive mechanisms came to the head of the Spanish government Pedro Sanchez and the Ministry of Defense. It is noted that the Security Service of Spain neutralized the package with explosives, which was sent to Sanchez on November 24. The explosive device was sent by regular mail, the suspicious envelope was discovered during the filtering of the correspondence of the head of government.

Instead, on December 1st, a letter containing explosives, which are activated when the user pulls on the fishing line, arrived at the Spanish Ministry of Defense. It is noted that it was sent from within the country.

The day before, two similar cases of sending explosives were recorded in Spain. It is currently being investigated whether the parcel at the air base is related to them.

On November 30, an employee of the Embassy of Ukraine in Madrid received minor injuries as a result of a bomb explosion in the premises of the embassy. It is known that in Spain the incident was previously classified as a terrorist crime.

Later, a package with a suspected explosive device was received on Wednesday by the Spanish company Instalaza, which manufactures weapons for Ukraine. In particular, Instalaza manufactures anti-tank grenade launchers used by the Ukrainian army in the war with Russia. At the beginning of the war, the Minister of Defense of Spain, Margareta Robles, announced that Kyiv would receive 1,370 such installations.
