DiCaprio donates to Zelenska's fund for war-affected children in Ukraine
Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio has supported Ukrainians by donating money for children who have suffered from Russian aggression
This was reported on the Facebook page of the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
In particular, the funds transferred by the star actor will help Ukrainian children such as Vika from the Rodnykh family, who was diagnosed with a mental disorder.
“Together with her seven siblings, she had to survive the occupation of Kherson and evacuate under the guns of tanks and constant shelling,” the foundation notes.
DiCaprio's funds will also help eight children from the Oleshko family-type orphanage. Their home was destroyed during the war, and the father is defending Ukraine at the frontline. The funds will also be used to help 3-year-old Violeta from the Khanadeiev family, who now lives in the Kyiv region.
“Almost 9 years ago, her parents first encountered Russian aggression in Donetsk, which forced them to leave their home – since then they have never returned home,” the foundation representatives said.
The Olena Zelenska Foundation supports all family-type orphanages in Ukraine, where children are brought up in a family atmosphere.
“We are coordinating our efforts with the state to ensure that Ukraine does not know orphans. Together, we give children a chance to have a full childhood with access to education, healthcare and welfare,” the foundation added and thanked DiCaprio for his contribution to helping Ukrainian children.
