Canadian parliament urges government to officially recognize Russia as state sponsor of terrorism
Canadian MP from the Conservative Party Larry Brock petitions the government to officially recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism on the parliament's website
The website of the Canadian Parliament informs about this.
“The Russian Federation has launched an unprovoked war against the people of Ukraine, has committed numerous war crimes against the people of Ukraine given that Russian Federation and its forces have repeatedly engaged in violent, indiscriminate attacks on civilian centers in Ukraine, including preschools and kindergartens, hospitals, and apartment complexes. We, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to immediately and publicly designate the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism”, - the petition says.
The author, Conservative MP Larry Brock, reminds us that the lower house of the Canadian parliament recognized Russia's actions in Ukraine as genocide in 2022.
After the petition is submitted to the session hall, according to the law, the government has 45 days to prepare a written response to it.

Prior to that, on November 21, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly also recognized the Russian Federation and its regime as a state sponsor of terrorism. A number of European countries, including the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, and the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, have previously adopted similar declarations.
