Brazil’s president to propose "peace club" to end Russia's war with Ukraine during China visit
During his visit to China, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will propose a "peace club" with China to mediate in ending Russia's war against Ukraine
This was reported by the Financial Times.
It is noted that the Brazilian president seeks to restore his country's diplomatic influence after the relative isolation of the previous government of Jair Bolsonaro, but resists uniting with the Western countries to support Ukraine.
Therefore, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will propose a "peace club" with China to mediate an end to Russia's war against Ukraine during his trip to Beijing this week.
“We are very interested in promoting or helping generate some kind of meeting that would lead to a peace process,” Mauro Vieira, Brazil’s foreign minister, told the Financial Times in an interview.
“The president has said so many times he hears a lot about war but very few words about peace. He is interested in peace conversations.”
In particular, this year Lula said that he would promote the idea of a group of mediating countries, saying that "it's time for China to get its hands dirty." "I propose to create a group of countries that will try to sit down with Ukraine and Russia to try to find peace," he added.

According to Bloomberg, US officials are concerned that China may try to convince some countries that Washington does not want peace in Ukraine and impose its "peace plan" on them.
