Beijing knows its alliance with fascist nations Iran and Russia is not going to plan – Piontkovsky
Political scientist Andrey Piontkovsky noted that, unlike Russia, Xi Jinping has expressed sympathy for the victims of terrorist attacks on Israel
Andrey Piontkovsky shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Beijing is closely monitoring the situation and it seems they've come to realize that their stake on partnership with fascist Iran and Russia is facing difficulties. There are strange developments in the US-Chinese relations. Just this week, after the events in Israel, a delegation of American senators, led by Senate Democrat leader Schumer, met with Xi Jinping," the political scientist observed.
Piontkovsky said that during this meeting, Xi Jinping made a noteworthy statement, saying, “I can provide numerous reasons why the US-China relationship should thrive and progress, but I can't find a single reason why we should become enemies.” It's a very interesting standpoint.
“Moreover, shortly before the meeting, Xi Jinping had issued a statement on the events in Israel, advocating for de-escalation and the pursuit of a peaceful solution. Schumer urged Xi Jinping to express the Chinese people's outrage at the terrible acts committed by terrorist groups. Remarkably, Xi Jinping agreed and revised his statement. Unlike Russia, he extended sympathy to the victims and condemned such behavior as entirely unacceptable and unjustifiable,” Piontkovsky noted.
The analyst noted that everyone is now awaiting Xi Jinping's participation in the Pacific Summit scheduled for San Francisco. Recently, the White House stated that it does not rule out the possibility of a meeting between Xi Jinping and Biden during this summit.
In essence, Russia has found itself in a difficult situation, associating itself with Iran and those who have been involved in atrocities in Israel. It remains uncertain how Moscow will navigate this situation, Piontkovsky concluded.
