Arming Ukraine is the only way to eliminate Russia’s threat in Black Sea

Volodymyr Ohryzko, Ukrainian diplomat and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, says it is necessary to provide Ukraine with 300 km range missiles to eliminate the Russian threat in the Black Sea

He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

The diplomat has commented on NATO's possible reactions to the challenges and threats that Russia is constantly creating in the Black Sea.

"The importance of the so-called Russian Black Sea Fleet is being exaggerated, because, in fact, experts say that it is not a fleet, but a flotilla, especially after the sinking of the Moskva cruiser and the damage to several other Russian ships. Regarding the words of NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, that the Alliance will increase its presence and control, these are just nice words, because they provide no solution to the urgent problem of removing the threat coming from Russia in the Black Sea. And it can be removed only in one way, by arming Ukraine, which will eliminate this danger itself," stressed the diplomat.

Volodymyr Ohryzko notes that such linear logic should be communicated to Ukraine’s Western partners, i.e. Ukraine should call on partners to supply missiles with a range of 300 km, so the threat from the Black Sea flotilla of the Russian Federation disappears.

"Turkey has already done a good thing regarding the matter, and the country can continue doing it. It can prohibit the entry of Russian warships into the waters of the Black Sea through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits. Accordingly, Russia will have nowhere to go, and will quickly relocate to Novorossiysk everything that has left. The threat in the Black Sea can be eliminated that easily. Ukraine has the right to self-defense, which is enshrined in the UN charter, that is, if you are attacked from the Black Sea, then you have all the moral, political, and legal grounds to destroy this threat. Therefore, I would very much like NATO to be more active regarding the situation in the Black Sea, but not in terms of another verbal configuration, but through providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons to finally solve this issue," concluded Ohryzko.
