Anti-Russian, anti-imperialist lustration is needed - Arseniy Yatsenyuk
Supporting the Russian dictatorship in Ukraine is not a sign of democracy, but a sign of a criminal offense, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Ukraine's PM (2014-2016), said at the Kyiv Security Forum
Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s statement was published by the Kyiv Security Forum website.
“In Russia, the NKVD (the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs - Ed.) was succeeded by the FSB (Russia'sFederal Security Service - Ed), but the essence remained the same. Stalin changed to Putin, but the essence remained the same. Stalin's Soviet chauvinist ideology has been replaced by Putin's new imperialism, but the essence is the same,” he emphasized.
“Ukraine is a trauma for all Russian dictators,” he added.
According to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, support of Russian aggression should be banned at the legislative level, “be it support of any pro-Russian parties or any pro-Russian ideology.” Just as it is unacceptable not to recognize the Holodomor as genocide.
“This should be introduced within the framework of the law. Denial of Russian aggression, denial of torture, denial of Russian imperialism, denial that the Holodomor is an act of genocide, and denial of war crimes must be prosecuted by law. And such people have no place in the Ukrainian legislative body and in the Ukrainian government. This should be a new lustration - an anti-Russian, anti-imperialist lustration,” the head of the Kyiv Security Forum emphasized.
The Kyiv Security Forum, founded by Arseniy Yatsenyuk's Open Ukraine Foundation, is the main platform of Ukraine for discussing issues of war and peace, as well as national and global security.
