Norway's EUR 500 million aid will include F-16s, NASAMS air defense systems
The aid package that Norway is preparing for Ukraine will include F-16 fighters and NASAMS air defence systems
This was stated by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense Hennadii Kovalenko.
On October 29-30, Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram paid a working visit to Odesa. He was shown the center for rehabilitation of servicemen and border fortification, and was informed about the security situation.
‘He (Gram - ed.) emphasized that the next aid package from Norway in the amount of 500 million euros includes F-16s and NASAMS systems,’ Kovalenko said.
According to the defense ministry spokesman, Norway has also expressed its readiness to invest in Ukraine's defense industry.
Norway's aid to Ukraine
On October 28, at the Ukraine-Northern Europe summit, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said that his country knows how many women and children are killed in Ukraine by Russian shells and missiles.
‘That is why we would like to announce a new aid package worth €500 million, of which €350 will be allocated to the military package. We will work with our Danish counterparts to implement this initiative,’ he said.
Later, media reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, met with his Norwegian counterpart, Eirik Kristoffersen, in Ukraine and discussed the needs of the frontline.
