Allies fear raising stakes and Putin uses their weakness - Pavlo Klimkin
Former Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stressed that Ukraine has already learned not to be afraid of Putin.
He expressed this opinion on the air of the Verdict with Serhii Rudenko program on the Espreso TV channel.
"The allies are still afraid of Putin. They are afraid that a dead-end Putin will start an escalation, possibly a nuclear escalation. They are afraid to raise the stakes so that a runaway process in Russia does not begin. Of course, not everyone in the West tends to see Putin as he is," Klimkin said.
According to the diplomat, the allies do not want the conflict to go beyond Ukraine's borders, which is a weakness.
"Putin makes good use of his weakness. Our partners do not yet supply Ukraine with many important types of weapons - long-range missiles, drones, airplanes, and armoured vehicles. Yes, we have support, but the desire to move on to the next stage requires difficult discussions in the West. Europe must definitely work on mistakes, and then they will stop being afraid of Putin," Klimkin stressed.
