Trump administration's pass: expert on new U.S. military aid package to Ukraine
Defense Express development director Valerii Riabykh believes that the administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump may make new decisions on financing Ukraine on a new basis, possibly a lend-lease
He said this on Espreso TV.
"Military aid packages for Ukraine continue to be announced, and our troops are gradually being supplied with the necessary weapons, including ammunition. Most likely, the new package of military aid from the United States will include artillery ammunition that will help remotely install anti-personnel minefields, as previously reported in the American press. This will also significantly help us to deter the enemy," the military expert noted.
According to him, on the one hand, the military potential is being built up, which may coincide with an increase in mobilization resources, and this will strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian army.
"As for the question of whether the Biden administration will have time to fully transfer this new military aid package, I do not rule out that this may be a pass by the Trump administration to coordinate all the processes of logistics support for the Armed Forces. And also so that at the beginning of the new administration's work, it would be possible to make the same regular transfers and gradually saturate the Ukrainian army with the necessary means. This can happen until new decisions are made on financing Ukraine, possibly on a new basis. I assume that it will be on the basis of a lend-lease," emphasized Valerii Riabykh.
- Earlier, Biden called on Congress to allocate an additional $24 billion to strengthen Ukraine in the war against Russia.
- On November 28, Reuters reported that the administration of current U.S. President Joe Biden is preparing a $725 million military aid package for Ukraine.
