Bloodiest battles since World War II erupt in Donbas as Russia seeks to occupy it - Ukraine's FM
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha says that the most bloody battles are currently taking place for the meters of Ukrainian territory that Russia is trying to occupy in the Donetsk region
He said this during an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Faculty of International Relations of the Kyiv National University, NV reports.
"These meters that they are trying to occupy are the bloodiest by far, even compared to the Second World War," Sybiha said.
He noted that the advancement at such a cost demonstrates the indifference of the Russian regime to human lives.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister also commented on the attack on Dnipro with an Oreshnik missile. According to the minister, Russia has entered a new stage of aggression - the invading forces want to intimidate the West. To achieve their goals, they use nuclear blackmail, among other things.
Sybiha added that during the latest attacks, Russians tried to hit Ukraine's nuclear infrastructure. Also, Russian forces are trying to occupy as much territory as possible now, given that they “will be forced to sit down at the negotiating table.”
- According to the General Staff, 157 combat engagements were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front on November 27. The situation is the hottest in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions. Russia is also active in the Kupyansk and Vremivka sectors.
