Kazakh police and the BBC Russian Service reported the information.
To mark Vladimir Putin's visit, Russian flags were displayed across Astana, but one street screen showed the Ukrainian flag instead of the Russian one.
“We are currently considering all possible scenarios of what happened, including technical problems, as well as possible external unlawful interference with the company's equipment. A criminal case has been opened,” the police said.
As of Thursday morning, the screen was turned off. According to the BBC, Kazakhstan's state technical service stated that the cyberattack was carried out "from foreign IP addresses using proxy servers."
- Vladimir Putin, the head of the Kremlin and the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, arrived in Astana for a state visit on the afternoon of November 27.
