Biden's $24 million initiative for Ukraine is meaningless without Trump's approval - MP
Ukrainian MP Oleksii Honcharenko has commented on Joe Biden's request to the U.S. Congress for an additional $24 billion in aid to Ukraine
Honcharenko shared his opinions about it on Espreso TV.
"Of course, we're glad to hear this, but let's be honest. Biden can propose anything now, but there's a Republican majority in Congress, and they’re certainly not all on the same page with him. So, it’s likely that his proposal (for $24 billion in aid to Ukraine) was coordinated with Trump. Otherwise, we probably wouldn’t be seeing tweets like those from Elon Musk. If it wasn’t agreed upon, we shouldn’t pay it much attention. Biden no longer has the power to make such decisions," Honcharenko said.
Thanks to Joe Biden, Ukraine has received significant aid. But, according to Honcharenko, it’s only been enough for the Armed Forces to keep fighting. It’s not enough to secure a victory.
"If things continue as they are, it will only lead to trouble — it’s just a matter of time. That's why we need to change our approach, and it must be in our favor, not the other way around. We’ll soon see what happens, and then we’ll be able to compare who’s the best ally for us," he added.
The fact that the NATO Parliamentary Assembly has called for more long-range weapons for Ukraine to strike Russian territory, as well as for Ukraine's immediate membership in the Alliance, is very positive news. However, the person who will ultimately make these decisions is, once again, Donald Trump.
"The resolution and decision by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly are very pro-Ukrainian. But we need to understand that the NATO PA isn't a decision-making body when it comes to fundamental issues in NATO. It’s more of a consultative and advisory body where parliamentarians hold discussions. It's great that they support us because without that, it would have been difficult for us. Now, we have this position, and it should help our diplomacy achieve our goals, especially regarding long-range missiles and even Tomahawks. But the Parliamentary Assembly doesn’t make these decisions. And we still don’t know what decisions Trump will make," Honcharenko concluded.
- On November 27, it was reported that the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, has called on Congress to allocate an additional $24 billion to support Ukraine in the war against Russia.
