Finland to launch drone manufacturing plant in partnership with Ukraine
The Finnish defense and security technology group Summa Defence Ltd is partnering with Ukrainian companies to establish a drone production facility in Finland, starting operations in 2025 to supply drones for Ukraine, Europe, and NATO
Summa Defence reported the information.
The facility aims to quickly boost drone production for Ukraine's combat needs and establish industrial-scale drone manufacturing in Finland and Europe, with full production set to start in early 2025.
“The demand for drone technology and production capability is high. Drones will be delivered not only to Ukraine but also across the European Union and NATO countries. Drones will become a permanent part of society, playing a vital role in securing critical societal functions across civilian, defense, and security sectors,” says Jussi Holopainen, CEO of Summa Defence Ltd.
According to the statement, the drones integrated into Summa Defence Group's portfolio through the joint venture have demonstrated their strategic value in Ukraine, playing a vital role in protecting critical infrastructure and supporting emergency and rescue operations. Establishing production in Finland will enhance supply security for both Ukraine and internationally.
Summa Defence is in the final stages of acquisition negotiations with multiple companies in the security and defense technology sector.
