Delay in US aid to Ukraine is gift to Putin — Hillary Сlinton
Hillary Clinton, a US politician and former Secretary of State, calls for continued support for Ukraine’s struggle against Russian aggression and discusses post-war recovery of the country
She made her statements at the recent IGP convening on the future of Ukraine
“The Ukrainian government and its people are literally on the front lines of the fight to defend democracy against authoritarianism. And over the last 700 days, they have demonstrated remarkable resilience and courage. We owe it to them to meet the moment with continued support,” the politician said.
Clinton stressed that the US Congress’s inaction plays into Vladimir Putin's hands and undermines democracy.
“This is a decisive time, not just for Ukraine, but for the West, for NATO and I would argue, especially for the United States. How we respond, or fail to respond, will immeasurably impact the fate of the 21st century global order. It is shameful that aid to Ukraine continues to be held up in Congress because of petty politics. It is a gift to Vladimir Putin and a blow to democracy. In Ukraine's tenacious fight, we see a reminder that democracy, justice and freedom are not guaranteed to anyone. And that is one of the many reasons we must recommit ourselves to support Ukraine's struggle,” she said.
