16-year-old school student developed mine detector drone for Ukrainian military
Yuryi Tumyr, a student of the Natural and Mathematical Lyceum from Ivano-Frankivsk region, developed a mine detector drone for Ukrainian military. The schoolboy presented his development at the IV All-Ukrainian STEAM-FEST
Ruslan Martsinkiv, the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, states, Espreso.West reports.
According to the developer, he first had the idea to make a machine that looks for mines. And later, by trial and error, the boy decided to make a quadcopter using 3D printing technology.
"It allows you to scout the territory. It can also search for mines and mark them on the map of our future mobile application. The drone flies along a predetermined route in the application, conducts a survey of the territory, marks at which coordinates mines are located. There is also a size recognition system and the type of mine. Sapper opens his application and sees where the mines are, what they are, and works on demining," the young inventor said.
