"You are going to get into a war with NATO": US senators register resolution warning Russia against using nuclear weapons in Ukraine
US senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal have introduced a resolution project: if Russia uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine, it will signify an attack on NATO
This is reported by "Voice of America."
The resolution in the US Senate was registered by Democrat Richard Blumenthal and Republican Lindsey Graham.
"We believe that nuclear weapon unleashed Ukraine to radiate large portions of Europe, where we have NATO allies. And our message is to those around Putin that if you do this if you follow his order, if he ever gives it, you can expect a massive response from NATO, and you will be at war with NATO," stated Graham.
According to Graham, the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus is concerning and provocative, and the threat of Russia using nuclear weapons is the highest since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
“If that progress [on the battlefield] continues, as likely it will, Putin could be tempted to use a tactical nuclear weapon or, just as likely, try to destoy the main nuclear power plant [the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant] - both actions would have dire consequences. For the health of Ukraine, but also surrounding NATO nations: Poland is at immediate risk, if the use of tactical nuclear weapons are destruction of a nuclear power plant causes radiation to spread. Almost certainly it would be causing significant human harm,”-stated Blumenthal.
According to the Democrat, this is not an irresponsible or panicked resolution. It is based on facts and is intended to send a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his military personnel.
"They will be destoyed, they will be eviscerated if they use tactical nuclear weapons or if they destroy a nuclear plant in a way that threatens surrounding NATO nations. Article 5 is there for a reason," added Richard Blumenthal.
On June 22nd, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided intelligence data indicating that Russia is likely preparing a terrorist attack on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, stated that Russia will receive a warning through diplomatic channels about the consequences of a possible terrorist attack on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.
