Lithuania initiates investigation into appearance of "Z" symbols in Klaipeda
A pre-trial investigation has been launched in Klaipeda, Lithuania, after the appearance of the letter "Z" on various public and private objects
This was reported by LRT.
According to reports, police received notifications between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday about the presence of Russian symbols in different parts of the city.
The letter "Z" was found painted on three cars, a front door, a wall, and also marked on several houses, pharmacy windows, billboards, and even a church bell.
Lithuanian authorities have opened a case for public order violations.
“The Russian army started using the letter Z as its symbol in 2022 when it launched its large-scale invasion of Ukraine. In Lithuania, the display of symbols of Russia’s war in Ukraine, such as the letters Z and V, as well as the ribbon of Saint George, is banned and offenders face administrative liability and a fine,” the report highlights.
