EU to spend €1.4 billion from frozen Russian assets on Ukraine's military
The EU is set to allocate €1.4 billion from frozen Russian assets to fund military supplies for Ukraine
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius made this announcement in Brussels, as reported by Ukrinform.
He stated that the EU would direct €1.4 billion from seized Russian assets to procure military supplies for Ukraine's armed forces, with deliveries expected by the end of this year. Additionally, Kyiv is set to receive another €1.9 billion worth of military equipment in early 2025.
The German minister emphasized that the European initiative to provide Ukraine with one million rounds of artillery ammunition is nearing full implementation, with a third of the costs covered by Berlin.
Pistorius also confirmed that Germany had approved the delivery of 4,000 AI-powered drones to Ukraine.
“These drones are a vital tool for Ukraine — not just for defense but also for targeting Russian logistics,” he said. “They won’t change the rules of the game, but they will give Ukraine a tangible edge.”
- Reports from November 18 suggest Germany may soon start supplying Ukraine with highly autonomous kamikaze drones capable of striking long-range targets effectively, even under electronic warfare conditions.
