In an interview with Voice of America, Johnson explained that, following the election of Trump, it’s no longer President Joe Biden’s responsibility to make decisions on Ukraine funding.
"We have a newly elected president, and we're going to wait for the new commander-in-chief’s strategy on all of this," Johnson said. "So, I don’t expect any funding for Ukraine to be put forward right now."
Johnson also noted that the election of Trump as president is already "changing the dynamics of the Russian war against Ukraine."
- On December 3, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed a memorandum to support the resilience of Ukraine's energy system.
