We won’t let them involve the state in another military conflict - Thea Tsulukiani
Georgia's Culture Minister and former Deputy Prime Minister Thea Tsulukiani claims the country will not provide weapons to Ukraine, as the government "cannot allow the state to be drawn into another conflict"
This is reported by the First Channel of Public Broadcasting of Georgia.
She stated that "attempts to involve Georgia in a military conflict continue" and that it is "very unfortunate."
"There is only one answer. The Georgian government cannot allow involving the state in another conflict. So, of course, we will not provide military assistance to any of the parties to the conflict. We are talking about the transfer of such weapons that we have purchased ourselves, but this is just a detail. The main thing is the position of the government that we do not want to be in the war," Tsulukiani said.
The Minister stressed that Georgia has experienced many wars and the government "remembers how much trouble it is." She also stated that the future of the country depends on this decision.
"We have been through too many wars. Some of the listeners may not remember it, but we have been in power for generations of war. We remember well how much trouble it is. So, we simply cannot allow this. It is the responsibility for the future of our country," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Finally, she expressed hope that "the war in Ukraine will soon end and it will end with the victory of the Ukrainian state and people."
- Earlier, Georgia refused to transfer "Buk" and "Javelin" systems to Ukraine. The Georgian Ministry of Defense justified its refusal to return the anti-aircraft systems provided to us in 2008 by the fact that they "were bought for public funds, not donated."
